I would like to introduce you to EMWP’s new Program & Data Assistant, Shannon Paapanen, who’s first day of work began yesterday, 4/9/2012.  Shannon is Hawaiʻi raised with deep roots in Upcountry soil and an equally deep aloha `aina no Maui nei.  After many years on the mainland, Shannon returned to Maui a few years ago and has finally “come home” to join the EMWP staff/crew in our mission to “protect East Maui’s rainforest and primary water source.”  Shannon has over 2 decades of experience as an administrative assistant/office manager in a variety of settings; from legal to non-profit offices and comes to EMWP with the highest recommendations.  Please join me in welcoming Shannon to the EMWP staff/crew and we all look forward to introducing her to you in person in the coming weeks/months ahead!-)

I like the way you selected and organized your stops along the way and you did not talk too much! My experience as a tour guide is that often there is info overload for our adult visitors. It is best to select the stories and plants etc. for better retention and leave the rest to quiet reflection and input from the ambiance we which to cherish, or mālama.”

Thursday, Dec. 1st- Randy Bartlett (East Maui Watershed Partnership Program Manager)

Randyʻs Conservation career started in 1985 as a summer intern in the Resources Management Division at Hāleakala National Park.  Since then he has spent almost 22 years as the Puʻu Kukui Watershed Preserve Manager for Maui Land & Pineapple Company and now serves as East Maui Watershed Partnership Program Manager.
